The feast opens tomorrow at 5:00 PM. Here is opening night, the four-day hours, and how the week lines up. the 100th anniversary feast runs Thursday through Sunday at Veterans Memorial Park in Carmel (2 min)

No, not tonight. The Putnam County Feast of San Gennaro and Carnival opens tomorrow, Thursday, September 10, at 5:00 PM at Veterans Memorial Park, 201 Gipsy Trail Road in Carmel, and runs through Sunday in its 100th anniversary year, 1926 to 2026. The statue procession walks Thursday at 6:00 PM, so if opening night is your night, aim to park by quarter to six.

The hours, from the feast's own schedule: Thursday 5:00 to 10:00 PM, Friday 5:00 to 11:00 PM, Saturday noon to 11:00 PM, Sunday noon to 10:00 PM. Admission is free; ride tickets are sold at the feast. DJ Fonz is on the music Thursday, with Lisa Messina and John Micalizzi at 7:30 Friday.

The week stacks up busy. Friday carries the feast's 5-to-11 block, the county's 9/11 candlelight vigil at 7:00 PM, and the second week of school buses around Route 6 and Fair Street. Saturday runs noon to 11 with the New York Cruisers car show. Sunday ends it at 10.

What 9/11 ceremonies are happening in Putnam County?

Friday is the 25th anniversary, and the county's observance is the annual candlelight vigil, Friday at 7:00 PM at the Putnam Heroes Memorial in Cornerstone Park, 1 Fair Street, Carmel. The memorial carries the names of the eight Putnam heroes lost on September 11 and fifteen more who have died from 9/11-related illness, and the county page notes one more name joins it this year. Brewster runs its own remembrance Friday at 8:30 AM at Brewster Fire Department, 515 Route 312. If you are in Carmel village Friday evening, build in extra time: the feast opens at 5 on Gipsy Trail Road and the vigil draws a crowd to Fair Street.

Can you still tour Constitution Island this season?

Twice more, and that is it for 2026. Warner House and fortification tours run Saturdays, September 12 and September 26, with the first slot at 10:00 AM, per the Constitution Island Association. The island sits across from West Point, and booking ahead is the move for a season that ends in two dates.

A quiet Tuesday in Putnam, and one warning worth repeating no weather alerts, and the sheriff says the office never calls demanding money (1 min)

Nothing broke overnight: no active National Weather Service alerts for New York State and no new road advisories logged as of Tuesday morning. Quiet is the story we can verify; when the next storm or closure lands, it leads this section the same morning.

The item worth carrying again is the sheriff's warning about calls from people claiming to be law enforcement or a government agency, sometimes naming the Putnam County Sheriff's Office or the U.S. Marshals Service, who threaten arrest unless you move money, buy gift cards, or wire funds to a safe account. The office's own line on it: it will never call you demanding money, and it does not take gift cards, crypto or wire transfers. Hang up and call the office on a number you looked up yourself.
